Rose Hydrosol has a captivating and extensive history. Many know it by the name of Rose Water. Ancient civilizations like the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and Indians used it in cosmetics, the apothecary, and the M word. However, it later became primarily associated with perfumes, food ingredients, and as an element in apothecary recipes rather than being used on its own.  The first rose plantations in Bulgaria appeared around the 16th century and were imported by Ottoman merchants. By the 16th- 17th centuries, small alembics were available for home use, allowing those with roses on hand to create their own. However, typically, those were not this particular species of rose. 
 Although it is believed to have originated in the foothills of Central Asia. The Damask rose is a hybrid rose with a history rooted in the Middle  E, particularly Persia. Historically, the importing and trading of Rosa Damascena hydrosol and oils fetched high prices, and they still do today. This rose is renowned for its exquisite properties and fragrance. It is believed that Crusaders introduced this rose species to Europe during the Middle Ages. 
 Today, times have changed, and many use just the distillate on their skin because of the beneficial water-soluble components and oils that this hydrosol brings. 

To properly store rose hydrosol, keep it in a cool, dark place, ideally refrigerated, in a tightly sealed, sterile glass container to maintain its quality and extend its shelf life.
