You wanted us to add this hair & body powder to our Apothecary, and we did!! Many of you know this was a popular hair powder in the 18th century, but did you know it was still a popular scent in powder and pomade into the 19th and even 20th centuries? Yep! That said, we didn't just reproduce any historical recipe. We searched high and low, and after studying them, we decided to combine three of them! So all those other Maréchale hair powders on the market won't be like ours! Granted, many of the ingredients are similar,, but our unique recipes contain 12 ingredients, all seen in Maréchale powder recipes in the 18th and 19th centuries. 

 

Color: Is a natural color. Want it darker? Add your own powdered Cloves, or why not make it modern and add Cocoa Powder! 

Organic Wheat Starch, Corn Starch, Peruvian Bark, Organic Clove, Organic Cinnamon, Organic Sweet Flag, Organic Cypress Powder, Organic Mace, Organic Sassafras Powder, Organic Myrtle, Organic Allspice, & Organic Vanilla Bean Powder. 

 

Recipes for Maréchale Hair and Body Powder differed considerably as well started looking into them. So we did the next best thing, took three of our favorites, and combined them for the BEST and Finest Maréchale Hair Powder out there! Feel free to use it on the body too! 

 

To Powder the hair in the 18th Century fashion.

1. Apply a small amount of powder and work the soft pomade into the powder. Some manuals tell us to pomade first, then powder. So it's whatever works for you!

2. Apply powder over your pomade and work in sections, being sure to comb and work the excess powder out until your hair is sufficiently powdered and pomaded.
