Our Version Of The Ivory Pin Used For Applying Historical K-ohl
Various Styles
Historical Eyeliner (K-ohl) is sold separately
NOTE: This listing is for a single kajal stick!
We finally have these in the shop after a long wait. These bone "pins" come very close to the historical Kajal applicators used. The 1810 write up-, it talks about using an ivory pin. Many times the applicators were everything from bone to wood and precious metals. We have been working with this applicator for a while now and feel like it is a good substitute for the historical "pin". I have included the information in the last photo.
To use this:
gently dip the end into the K-ohl and brush the excess of not the rim of the container. Start in the inner corner of your eye, shut your eye, and drag the bone pin across the inner waterline. The less, the better for historical purposes in the Regency Era. You can achieve very fine lines with this pin, it just takes practice. Also, historically women would use this for their eyelashes in the early 19th century and, of course, for darkening the eyebrows.
TIP: Historically, they talk about breathing on the ivory pin for the powdered K-ohl - so wetting it to grab the powered K-ohl. If you want a really smooth line.. mix a little of this with water to make more of a liquid liner :) Works really well.
