Myrrh: Myrrh is centuries old and is said to enhance meditation and contemplation. It has been used to release and banish negativity, to promote spiritual enlightenment and progression. It was often used in the temple of Isis in Egypt. It was also used in the mummification process as well. It guards against evil, brings peace, assists in understanding personal sorrow. and increases the power of any incense to which it is added. In Spain and Portugal, lavender was used in bonfires on St. John’s Day to help ward off evil spirits. On St. Luke’s Day in the 15 & 16th centuries, young ladies sipped lavender drinks in hopes that they would be granted a dream in which they would see their true love. Lavender tucked under the pillows of young men was thought to encourage them to ask for a lady’s hand in marriage but it was also used by wives to ensure their “husband’s marital passion.” If that wasn't enough, It is also said, prostitutes would wear lavender to attract customers and protect them from cruelty and violence.
